The Year of Your Book

It’s happening—a yearlong program to give you community, feedback, structural and emotional help with writing your book. 

 

Starting in January 2025

The class will be starting in October and we will have three meetings a month. In one meeting will be discussing structure and the process of writing. In the second meeting there will be accountability, emotional support and hypnotic help.  And in the third meeting we will be reading pages and giving each other feedback. 

 

I want you to make 2025 the year that you finish that damn book.

 

I am creating a new inaugural year-long program combining some kick-your-butt coaching with some dissolve-any-barriers-to-your-highest-good hypnosis so that you can get your book finished. 

 

I have worked with hundreds of writers to help them finish their stories and books and I have taught writing and the psychology behind writing for over twenty years. I am a life coach and certified hypnotherapist and the author of two books. 

 

I am also a recovering procrastinator, a recovering worrier and recovering from the dreaded imposter syndrome. I know what it feels like to feel stuck. I know what it feels like to be afraid. I can help you.

 

When I was working on my first novel, I prayed for help with finishing my books and often just wanted the writing fairy to come and tell me what to do and save me from my own muddled mind. Where the hell was the writing fairy? 

 

If you have been praying, your writing fairy is here!  Actually a team of fairies because we will be each other’s support to keep finding the connection and magic to your writing, get help when you are stuck, and learn everything you need to finish a draft of your book.

 

We will use accountability, buddies, hypnosis, dreamwork and coaching to overcome the blocks and self-made obstacles between you and your finished book. 

 

In The Year of Your Book  you will get the support you need psychologically, mentally, and emotionally to move forward with your writing, to grow, challenge yourself and finish. 

 

In  Lewis Hyde’s classic book, The Gift he posits that art is not a commodity. It can function as one, but primarily it is a gift that you give to the world. I want you to finish your books, and find the best place possible to publish them, but I also know that the things you learn along the way are priceless–they are the nutrients and food for your life as an artist. How can you support yourself psychologically, spiritually and emotionally to get to your finished book? How can you enjoy the things you are learning in the process of writing a book? This is not about just the finish line but about how enriching and interesting writing is. 

 

Writing a book is a magical process and I want to help you maintain that feeling of connection with your work, focused involvement and progress. Where does the magic come from? The magic comes from your connection to your work and the deepening that happens when you are in flow and rhythm with your deeper self. To facilitate this connection we will use the tools I have developed in my Trancewriting classes including automatic writing, dreamwork and group hypnosis.

 

At the same time, writing is also a practical skill and we will look at structure, character development, plot and pacing. I like to work in the realm of practical magic--combining the magical elements of intuition with the practical work of getting things done.
